Abstract:
Roller-compacted concrete is rapidly becoming a common construction material. It contains less cement than normal concrete and requires relatively simple placement equipment. It is often used for the construction of dams, where low binder contents are normally necessary to reduce the risk of thermal cracking. It is also now being used more and more for certain types of pavements, particularly heavy-duty pavements and parking areas, for which the surface texture of this type of concrete causes no significant riding problems.
