Abstract:
A major highway crossing over three wide rivers, requiring long bridges, is under construction in Pakistan. The superstructure of these bridges consists of prestressed box girders of about 55 m (180 ft) spans, constructed by the incremental launching method. The substructure is comprised of pile-transom frames, consisiting of reinforced concrete bored piles (drilled pier), extending to about 70 m (230 ft) from the bottom of the transom.
