Abstract:
Recent analytical studies have reported that construction loads on supporting floors may appreciably exceed slab design loads. This article quantifies errors incurred when using the simplified method to predict maximum shore and slab loads and recommends modifications to account for these errors. Modification coefficients are developed by comparing the results using the simplified methods to results using a two-dimensional matrix structural analysis computer program and by comparison to field measurements. *
