Abstract:
Improved hardware and software now available in the field of microcomputers means that both producers and users of concrete can expect better quality control. Testing of raw materials can be increased, production control and monitoring can be largely automated, and testing reports for customers can be improved in accuracy and timing. The risk of complacency in quality control operations is reduced when repetitive operations are handled by computer, allowing technicians to move beyond testing to analyze data, and allowing management freedom to give assistance and authority only when needed. Accurate design calculations and other computer functions such as word processing and data base management also improve quality control. Taken together these benefits increase product quality.
