Abstract:
A theory for inelastic thermal analysis of reinforced concrete superstructures including the effects of cracking is developed. An experimental investigation involving thermal loading of two 1/5 scale reinforced concrete bridge models is described. Forces and deflections predicted by theoretical analyses are compared with experimental results. On the basis of observed behavior, a simplified theoretical approach suitable for design purposes is proposed.
