Abstract:
The time rate of slump loss in ready-mixed concrete may be steep, particularly in hot weather, and result in problems during casting operations. The study re-ported is concerned with fly ash from bituminous coal (ASTM Class F) as partial replacement for cement made at 86 F (30 C) and continously mixed for 60 or 90 minutes. Results show that fly ash reduces slump loss, but this is dependent on loss of ignition of the fly ash used and the replacement percentage.
