Abstract:
A simple design method is presented which permits a rapid solution of partially prestressed T-beams and other shapes that can be related to a T cross section by discounting the tension flange. Service and ultimate load requirements are combined, leading to an optimization of the reinforcement areas. The design chart and tabulated coefficients cover the whole range between reinforced and fully prestressed concrete design. The problem of stress verification is also considered.
