Abstract:
One hundred and nine core tests were performed on concrete ranging from 2.5 to 5 ksi (17.2 to 34.5 MPa) compressive strength, from over 2.3 million cu yd (1.8 million m3) of concrete produced by a ready-mixed concrete company during a period of over seven years and operating in hot weather conditions. The concrete core test results were acceptable in 83 percent of the tests in accordance with ACI 318-77. The core test results are analyzed taking into account corrections for core tests and for the age of cores. Care must be exercised in the making, transporting, and testing of concrete cylinders in hot weather.*
