Abstract:
A simplified statistical control of concrete is described. The well-known relationship between control of variation in concrete strength and required level of cement content is discussed. Particular attention is given to the use of control charts for recording properties of concrete and concrete materials and for showing patterns of variation during construction. The significance of these patterns and the appropriate response are described. Control of variation in each case is a means of controlling and reducing costs.
