Abstract:
This paper summarizes some of the major ideas discussed at a National Science Foundation-sponsored workshop on high strength concrete in December 1979. One of the main purposes of the workshop was to define what we do know, what we have to know, and what future research should be conducted in the field of high strength concrete by generating dialogue among materials scientists, materials engineers, researchers with interest in theoretical mechanics, and structural engineers. The proceedings of the workshop contains papers by four reporters and four discussers as well as five summaries of floor discussions. This paper is a personal summary by the workshop chairman.
