Abstract:
This paper presents a brief history of the development of shrinkage-compensating cement concrete and makes recommendations for the design and construction of concrete sanitary structures utilizing shrinkage-compensating (Type K) concrete. The advantages of reduced construction joints, waterstops, and drying shrinkage reinforcement, and larger per-missible placement sections, are also discussed. [Author]
