Abstract:
This paper traces the evolution of construction joints and notes use by the Romans in connection with aqueduct construction. However, the history of re-cognizable construction joints goes back to relatively recent times. The author concludes that additional testing and observations of actual performance of full-scale sanitary engineering structures in relation to watertight construction joints will have to be made.
