Abstract:
A decision was made to install larger coal mills at Detroit Edison’s Monroe, Michigan power plant to obtain increased reliability and capacity. Each of the four generating units are supplied by seven coal mills mounted on a common reinforced concrete foundation. Since the plant was to continue operation at maximum production, the new concrete placement would have to take place while the coal mills were in operation. This article describes the test procedures and results of any mill vibration on freshly placed con-crete.
