Abstract:
Universal Component Systems, Inc., of Detroit, Mich., fabricates and markets a wall panel building system marketed under the trade name U-Form. The basic component is a story-high steel frame wall panel complete with permanent exterior finish, fire-proofing, insulation, vapor barrier, and interior furring, The wall panels ahve hollow cores 16 in. (406.4 mm) on center and a horizontal bond beam on top. The wall panels are delivered to the site, erected into place, reinforcing is positioned in the cores and bond beam, and concrete is placed and vibrated into the hollow cores and bond beam, producing a reinforced concrete beam-column structural frame in a very short time. All factors considered, the system is proving to be a cost-effective building system.
