Abstract:
While much research has been done in the area of FRP materials, much of it is of little use towards the goal of standardized materials for the engineer to specify in contracts for public funded projects. The principal reason for the long delay to general acceptance by the construction industry is the lack of material and product standards. Coordination between practicing engineers and researchers is needed. Approved ASTM standards for FRP materials are needed.
