Abstract:
The interest in district cooling plants has increased in recent years and these are being built in major cities throughout the United States. The selection of the structural system for the cooling plant is described. The design of the water tank posed several problems, including vertical settlement due to the weight of the tank itself and the weight of the water. Concrete was the material of choice for this project because of its flexibility and cost savings over other materials.
