Abstract:
This paper presents a simple test method to measure the bond strength between two concrete materials. The method uses a splitting prism test procedure similar to the ASTM C 496 test for splitting tensile strength of cylindrical concrete specimens. The procedure can include freezing and thawing of specimens as a test variable. The required number of test specimens and the repeatability of the test method are discussed. The method can evaluate the bond strength and durability of materials used for concrete pavement or bridge deck repairs.
