Abstract:
A series of eight full-size reinforced concrete specimens were tested subject to different ratios of in-plane to bending loadings. The primary goal of the tests was to examine the influence of the bond between concrete and reinforcement regarding the amount of tension carried by cracked concrete. The parameters in the test program included reinforcing bar diameter, ratio of in-plane to bending loadings, reinforcement ratio, and concrete cover. The test results showed that different longitudinal reinforcement configurations, for the same reinforcement ratio and the same loading and boundary conditions, result in different cracking loads and different post-cracking stiffness of the reinforced concrete beams.
