Abstract:
Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan is now building a third terminal having a service capacity of 45M passengers to accommodate an increasing amount of air traffic and provide for a more comfortable airport experience when traveling abroad and welcoming international passengers. Throughout the duration of this huge undertaking, the Owner and its counterparts have been implementing numerous engineering projects dedicated to world-class standards and fine local craftsmanship. Among them, the airside apron project was singled out to be one of its fast-track projects and was able to withstand the difficult Covid19 epidemic period without affecting progress. Consequently, 19 of the 27 parking aprons have now been completed and put into operation. The project featured a number of construction constraints such as having to work in the existing airside space and maintain air traffic control and connections with the existing aprons without any interruptions, and still managed not to compromise on the quality and safety of the project. Whether it is the leveling and drainage of the concrete slabs, crack prevention of joints, wind and temperature control of a large area, and the integration of various apron facilities, we were able to overcome all of these obstacles by adopting innovative practices and paying heed to meticulous details; It truly is an honor and privilege to recognized by the ACI for our efforts.
