Abstract:
In 2023, an ACI Innovation Task Group (ITG) was approved for the purpose of developing design and construction code requirements that would make additively constructed concrete (ACC) walls for residential structures a more accessible construction technology, allowing for more rapid growth of the industry. The development of code language will allow design professionals to use logical design methods, based on testing and solid mechanics fundamentals, and will also help producers modify their systems and take full advantage of the versatility of ACC. Code language will also provide building officials with a framework for ensuring developed designs and construction documents meet the intent of the code. Further, it will provide a basic understanding of the design concepts enabling more educated conversations with design professionals and producers.
