Abstract:
Several ACI Codes have provisions intended to produce an acceptable level of durability for the structures they address. The durability code currently being produced by ACI Committee 321, Concrete Durability Code, will provide minimum prescriptive requirements intended to apply to all concrete structures and where applicable, provide alternative performance requirements for achieving concrete durability. The code will identify durability exposure categories and classes, and steps for durability planning, and provide requirements for durability design, construction/quality management, and maintenance. The code will be a stand-alone document that can be referenced in other national standards such as AASHTO and fib. This presentation will provide an update on progress made developing this code.
