Abstract:
This presentation will summarize efforts implementing condition assessment techniques into a term project for a graduate-level materials course. The course primarily focuses on microstructure and durability of construction materials. The term project provides an engaging opportunity for students to get hands-on experience in applying their learning to real-world structural scenarios. We will discuss how condition assessment integrates with materials-focused learning objectives, how to scaffold students throughout the term in completing the project, and strategies for cultivating research and writing skills along the way.
