Abstract:
This study introduces the BioCarb process, a novel, cost-effective, and sustainable alternative to traditional cement hydration accelerators. By incorporating slaked lime slurry, BioCarb permanently stores CO2, enhancing the hydration and strength of mortar specimens. Mortar prepared using the BioCarb method demonstrated a 50% increase in compressive strength within 3 days, significantly outperforming conventional methods. This rapid strength gain makes BioCarb technology ideal for applications requiring quick turnover, such as the precast industry. This study details key aspects of the BioCarb method compared to traditional approaches, including hydration kinetics, workability, setting time, and the mechanical performance of cement mortar and paste. The findings suggest that this innovative approach not only improves construction efficiency but also supports environmental conservation by reducing the carbon footprint associated with cement production.
