Abstract:
On-board monitoring systems for mixer trucks have made their appearance in the last two decades. Those systems are now able to monitor many parameters as temperature, concrete volume, air content, slump, etc. These systems contribute to: Reduce waste associated to concrete sampling; Reuse of returned concrete optimization; Reduce the number of rejected loads; Thanks to a streamlined production process, it generates an overall time, and associated CO2, saving at the following delivery steps: Initial mixing; Sampling at plant and on-site; Fresh concrete properties adjustment both at plant and on-site; Waiting time while manual testing of fresh concrete is performed; This presentation aims to expose the overall contribution of on-board monitoring systems for CO2 emission reduction and will be illustrated by real case examples.
