Abstract:
Delayed ettringite formation has been successfully mitigated in the past through use of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS). Most of the testing to date however has been on GGBFS with low-to-moderate Al2O3 contents that did not have sulfate additions. This presentation will show the results of tests performed for DEF expansion with slag cements of varying Al2O3 contents and sulfate additions and replacement levels. Recommendations on use of GGBFS with varying composition to mitigate DEF will be given.
