Abstract:
This presentation presents the long-term results from both laboratory test methods and field concrete exposure blocks for delayed ettringite formation (DEF). Twenty-year laboratory test results and exposure blocks of at least 10 years of age will be presented. Two laboratory test methods were evaluated with a number of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) including fly ashes, slag cements, metakaolin, and ternary blends. Various maximum temperatures were also evaluated along with different cements. The long-term exposure blocks were heat-cured to be greater than 160F. A variety of cements and SCMs were evaluated in the different exposure blocks.
