Abstract:
IoT sensors have gained a worldwide adoption in recent years for monitoring in-situ concrete properties, resulting in a large volume of data being generated. These sensors are typically used for several purposes among which temperature and maturity/ strength monitoring are currently the most common. This presentation focuses on how data from these IoT sensors has been used to train machine learning algorithms to detect anomalies and events in the service life of the sensor. In conjunction with the collection of a large database of mix designs and their performance, those algorithms provide suggestions in mixture alterations to optimize performance and prediction of future performance. Additional communication with batch and dispatch systems to receive live production data is also allowing for automation of concrete mix adjustments to ensure baseline performance retention and reduction of cost and carbon footprint. These capabilities are currently being used by concrete practitioners on daily basis.
