Abstract:
Despite the growing interest in 3D printing, the practical application of concrete 3D printing technology has not received enough attention. In this study, we investigate the implementation of this technology in construction to provide an understanding of the challenges and requirements associated with this particular process. The properties of the printed specimens will be looked into at both fresh and hardened stages. The rheology properties in terms of workability and buildability of 3D printed concrete will be tested. The hardened properties of the printed objects will be evaluated using mechanical test setups. Finally, the most promising specifications of 3D printed concrete pipes will be presented, highlighting the potential of 3D printing technology for practical applications in transportation.
