Abstract:
Service life analysis provides a significant value in evaluating remaining life and guiding repair decisions for existing structures, and supporting selection of appropriate corrosion protection strategies during construction of new structures. This presentation will discuss implementing WJE CASLE™ service life modeling software to predict the chloride ingress and associated corrosion damage in reinforced concrete structures. WJE CASLE™ accounts for the inherent variation in reinforced concrete construction, exposure, and deterioration by using probabilistic-based modeling. The model methodology is based on concepts described in Fib Bulletin 34, while allowing a customizable approach to the circumstances and exposure conditions unique to each project.
