Abstract:
The majority of substantial construction projects today are pressured to reach goals set forth by end users, architectural and engineering design professionals, general contractors, government agencies, etc. Typical project goals or conditions of satisfaction for the project teams are financial, schedule and quality related. Most recently, sustainability goals have become a major focus of the industry. This short presentation will demonstrate how the integrated project delivery method reduced the cost, schedule duration, and quantity of raw materials used to install 2500 lf of retaining wall and foundation. Utilizing the experience and ingenuity of the geotechnical engineer, structural engineer, concrete contractor, architect, and the general contractor, the team collaboration resulted in an improved solution that moved the project closer to achieving its goals.
