Abstract:
There are numerous different design methodologies for concrete slabs-on-ground. The option that works best for a particular project depends on the intended use as well as the owner's performance expectations. The design process often includes a consultants review and a request for the contractor to submit value engineering recommendations. However, this input must always consider the ultimate use of the facility as well as the specific expectations of the Owner. However, when these factors are considered, the design can often be improved to provide better serviceability and/or economy. This presentation will review some of the new details being incorporated into the upcoming new publication of the ACI 360 Guide to the Design of Slabs-on-Ground.
