Abstract:
Recent years have brought many advancements in the novel use of fiber reinforced concretes including uses of: • “Smart” concretes made with “sensing” FRCs or fibers with time-changing properties • Use of various types of nano fibers such as carbon tubes, bio-nanofibers, etc. in conventional as well as UHPC concretes • 3D printing applications using FRCs • Extruded FRCs • Lower CO2 footprint concretes made with FRCs • CO2 neutral steel fibers The objective of the session is to bring together leading experts in this field, showcase the state-of-the-art and provide a platform for discussion on future directions and opportunities for implementation of these advanced technologies in concrete infrastructure.
