Abstract:
Lightweight and ultra-lightweight cementitious composites have several applications in civil and architectural engineering, particularly for non-structural applications in buildings - e.g., building envelope, architectural components. This research focuses on a microstructure-guided design of lightweight and ultralightweight cement-based composite materials with density ranging from 0.4g/m3 to 1.5 g/m3. The printability of each material was evaluated experimentally together with its processing-structure-property relationship. A micro-mechanics based model was also developed to predict the thermal and mechanical properties of the composites.
