Abstract:
The SPARK bridge was built in 2020 in Buqayq, Saudi Arabia, to direct all vehicular traffic to the main entrance of the industrial city. To extend its service life to 100+ years, the bridge has a concrete deck reinforced with glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars, instead of epoxy-coated reinforcement (ECR), and is the first of its kind in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
