Abstract:
The article presents a recently completed preliminary study of the effects of finishing and surface treatments on durability of decorative concrete. It discusses results of water-absorption testing per RILEM Test Method 11.4 and modified ASTM C1585, as well as abrasion resistance testing per ASTM C944/C944M and with a Chaplin Abrasion Tester, conducted on specimens representing hard-troweled, stamped, and exposed aggregate finishes with various surface treatments.
