Abstract:
Since more designers specify minimum required values for modulus of elasticity (Ec) of concrete, direct measurement of Ec is often justified to confirm adherence to a designer-specified elastic modulus or to validate design assumptions. The purpose of this article is to provide background information regarding Ec, a summary of ASTM C469/C469M testing procedures, and guidance to help test operators avoid common errors associated with this test method.
