Abstract:
This paper discusses the advantages of achieving colour in buildings by the addition of pigments to concrete, giving examples of the use of synthetic inorganic pigments. To illustrate, some notable buildings that have incorporated inorganic pigments are presented as case studies. The range, composition and availability of Bayferrox® pigments are summarised, and weathering and stability characteristics discussed, emphasising the importance of quality management, environmental protection, sustainability and certification.
