Abstract:
Since its introduction in the United States in 1950, post-tensioning has proven to be a safe, economical, and durable means of concrete construction. Its success relies on proper design and construction methods—designers and field personnel following the requirements of ACI 423.7 and ACI 301 as well as other relevant industry documents. Unbonded post-tensioning tendons, tendon installation, patching material, encapsulated systems, and various requirements in ACI 423.7 are discussed.
