Abstract:
Why does ACI 355.2-071 require that post-installed
mechanical anchors are tested in 2500 to 4000 psi (17 to 28 MPa) concrete? Also, why must the anchors meet seismic and cracked concrete approval requirements at the shallowest embedment? How were the embedment depths in ICC ES AC1932 derived from ACI 355.2-07? The minimum embedment shown for an anchor I’m using in a design is very small—only 1-1/2 in. (38 mm).
