Abstract:
The San Javier Public Library in Medellín, Colombia, was opened to the public in late 2006. The project has contributed to the city’s revitalization and is now considered one of the city’s most important cultural and civic centers. The library received the Excellence Award in the category of Architecture in Concrete from the Colombian Ready Mixed Concrete Association, ASOCRETO, in September 2008, and was recently cited as an exemplar for the 2030 Palette, which is a free, online tool for designers striving to design low-carbon and resilient built environments.
