Abstract:
CRSI staff responds to outstanding requests for information (RFIs) submitted by reinforcing bar detailers, structural engineers, and construction engineers. The topics include circular tie details and required lap splice lengths for circular ties; detailing hooks in shallow sections; and use of side-by-side and staggered lap splices. CRSI staff also corrects an incorrect statement on lap splice lengths on page 51 of “Closure Strips and Lapped Reinforcement” (Concrete International, V. 33, No. 4, April 2011, pp. 49-53).
