Abstract:
The paper concerns testing and modeling the short-term mechanical properties of young concrete. Uniaxial compressive and tensile strength, the modulus of elasticity and the complete stress-strain curve were determined during the experimental tests. The original triaxial compression tests of young concrete were done on cylindrical specimens using a triaxial compression device ELE Hoek Cell TNX. All tests have been conducted on the concrete specimens at ages of 1, 3, 7 and 28 days. The results of the experiments were compared with the well-known analytical models describing the development of mechanical properties of concrete. Some new conceptions are also proposed, especially for an improved description of the stress-strain relation of young concrete and for the estimation of the strength of young concrete under the triaxial stress state.
