Abstract:
An experimental study was conducted on the creep behavior of high-speed railway prestressed concrete girders on six models with a scale of 1:5 for approximately 500 days. The study, which had an emphasis on the effects of the types of concrete, methods of tensioning, stress differences between the upper and lower fibers of the midspan sections on creep cambers, strains, and curvatures of the midspan sections of the models, was carried out. Taking the types of concrete; methods of tensioning; and stress differences between the upper and lower fibers of the midspan sections into account, a design proposal for predicting the creep cambers at the midspan of high-speed railway prestressed concrete girders is suggested. The calculated values using the suggested design proposal correspond well with the test results. The errors were within 9%.
