Abstract:
Planners for Vancouver’s Olympic Games focused on maximizing the sustainability of the many developments needed for the event. Brief descriptions of the major facilities, including the residential units, skating arena, broadcast center, sliding center, as well as the Golden Ears Bridge, are provided. The concrete mixtures used in the construction all were required to contain high percentages of fly ash or to meet stringent performance specifications. The technical performance fly ash brings to concrete has made its use standard in the Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada area for years.
