Abstract:
This paper describes the flexural stress-strain curves and the stress block parameters of reinforced high-strength and ultra-high- strength concrete column specimens. The specimens were tested under eccentric compressive loads applied with a controlled position of the neutral axis. Variables in the test series included concrete strength, confinement steel (diameter, spacing, and volumetric ratio), and the shape of the compression zone (rectangular and triangular). The paper also includes analytical modeling of the behavior of rectangular column specimens using empirical stress-strain relationships for confined concrete.
