Abstract:
This paper presents further corrosion test data from a macrocell time-to-corrosion evaluation of a sodium thiocyanate-based accelerating admixture which is now widely used in cold-weather concreting. Long-term nonchloride exposure and electrochemical corrosion test data for concrete treated with this admixture are also presented and discussed. The data indicate that sodium thiocyanate-based admixtures are safe for use in reinforced concrete applications at current recommended dosage ranges.
