Abstract:
Silica fume has been used in concrete construction for almost two decades. While the first years were characterized by probing for the appropriate applications, the knowledge of proper use of the material has now matured and in consequence the use is increasing. Several technical status papers have been written throughout this period, and they can almost be read like histories of progress. This paper introduces a few European concrete structures of special interest, where silica fume has been used for reasons of concrete quality and/or advantages during production.
