Abstract:
Under a treaty of March 23, 1991, the governments of Denmark and Sweden agreed to instigate the construction of a toll-funded, fixed link for rail and road traffic across Oresund (The Sound) between Copenhagen on Zealand and Malmo in Scania. The coast-to-coast section of Oresund Link will be about 17 km long, accommodating a four-lane motorway and a two-track, electrified railway. The crossing is planned to be operational by the end of the century, with construction beginning in 1994.
