Abstract:
In 1988, 41 percent of the total bridge inventory of the United States was either structurally deficient or functionally obsolete. In addition there is a need for large-scale structural and earthquake engineering experimental facilities to improve the seismic resistance of bridges in earthquake-prone areas of the country. As a result, the University of Nevada, Reno, is constructing a new Bridge Structures Laboratory as part of a 55,000 ft 2 engineering Laboratory Center $10,000,000 capital expansion project. 637-193
