Abstract:
The advent of chemical admixtures developed especially for use in hydraulic cementitious materials concrete has been a great development. The future of the concrete industry is in the manufacturing of cementitious materials that, when combined with the chosen admixture systems, provides the greatest benefit. It is imperative that the industry has access to high-quality appropriate materials specifications. Users of these materials need to become more active in the activities of ASTM Committees C01, Cement, and C09, Concrete and Concrete Aggregates, to improve cementitious and admixture standards. The specifications and test methods need to relate more closely to the field conditions in which these materials are being used.
